Luana Alonso Denied The Claims Of Her Expulsion from Athlete’s Village

Luana Alonso’s alleged expulsion from the Olympic Village during the 2024 Olympics made headlines, aside from her announcement of retirement from swimming. She was accused of wearing inappropriate dress in the village, distracting other participants from the official uniforms.

While every athlete was permitted to stay in the athletes’ village until the end of the Paris Games, Luana was sent home after her sneak tour at Disneyland Paris instead of supporting her fellow Olympians.

While defending herself on Instagram, Luana said, “I just wanted to clarify that I was never kicked out or expelled from anywhere. Please stop spreading false information. I don’t want to make any statement, but I’m not going to let lies affect me either.”

Additionally, Luana is not the first Olympian to be sent back home due to inappropriate behavior. Ana Carolina Vieira, a Brazilian swimmer, was banished after she was caught sneaking out with her boyfriend, Gabriel Silva Santos. They were part of the men’s and women’s 4x100m freestyle relay teams.
