Meet Yves Missi’s Athletic Parents, Jean and Annette: Details On Family And Siblings

Yves Missi, a collegiate basketball player at Baylor, dreamt of being as successful as his idol, Lionel Messi, but transitioned to basketball following his parents’ footsteps. Missi’s father, Paul, and mother, Annette, played on national basketball teams.

Born in Belgium on May 14, 2004, Yves grew up in Cameron, where he played soccer. It was not until his early teens he thought of giving basketball a try, as his parents and older brother played the sport. Ever since then, the love for hoops blended in his blood.

Having moved to the United in 2021, Missi progressed his basketball skills through schools (West Nottingham Academy and Prolific Prep).

In 2023, he enrolled at Baylor University and averaged 10.7 points and 5.6 rebounds as a freshman with the Bears. Because of his impressive freshman year at Baylor, he is projected to be a first-round pick in the 2024 NBA draft.

Yves Missi’s Parents, Jean and Annette, Used To Play Basketball

Miss, the 7-foot (2.13 m) tall basketball player’s parents, Jean-Paul and Annette, were Cameroon’s former national basketball players in the 1980s. The Baylor Bears center’s impressive build and height come from his parents, who are 6 feet 10 inches and 5 feet 9 inches, respectively.

In a 2023 interview with Prospective Insight, Yves recalled how his parent’s basketball background inclined him to the sport, “I didn’t play basketball at first. Then I saw how, moving forward, my parents used to play basketball on the National Team; both my mom, my dad, and also my brother were playing basketball.”

Missi’s father, Jean-Paul, is the managing director of Crédit Foncier of Cameroon and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Shelter Afrique, a pan-African finance institution. His mom’s professional endeavors are not out.

Yves posted pictures of his dad and mom on Instagram during his June 5, 2023, graduation. According to Missi’s older brother, Steve’s IG post, their father and mother have been married since January 4, 1992; he featured them on his IG, wishing them their 26th wedding anniversary in January 2018.

Even when keeping a low-profile family life, Paul and Annette are undoubtedly the greatest supporters of their son’s move into the professional basketball scene.

Yves Missi’s Brother, Steve, Is A Basketball Player-Turned-Data Analyst

Missi’s eldest brother, Steve Moundou-Missi (b. April 7, 1992), is a former collegiate basketball player. A Harvard University alum, Steve played as a forward in the NCAA tournaments, appearing in 123 games through four seasons and averaging 8.21 points and 5.41 rebounds.

As a sophomore season (2012-13), he was enlisted in honorable mentions in the Ivy League with the Floyd F. Wilson Sportsmanship Award. In 2013, Steve played in the national team in Camroon in the FIBA CUP 2013 and played junior season, which got him the 10 Most Improved Player Award.

In the senior season (2014-15), he earned the 2015 Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year honor.

After obtaining a BA in Applied Mathematics from Harvard University, Steve enrolled at the University of Exeter and completed an M.Sc. in Financial Mathematics in 2016.

According to his LinkedIn, he began his corporate career as a summer credit analyst in Cameroon in 2016 and works as a freelance data analyst at Orijtech.

Previously, he worked at Deloitte in the data science department and held various positions, including Manager of Data Science.

Missi Have Three Sisters: Who Are They?

Yves is the fifth and youngest child in his family. In addition to his eldest brother, Steve, he has three older siblings and three sisters: Claude-Audrey, Corinne, and Amanda.

Missi’s sister, Audrey, graduated from ESIGELEC: School Of Generalist Engineers in 2021 and holds a degree in Network Architecture and Security. She now works as a cybersecurity consultant at Néosoft (September 2021—present). She has internships at EPSM Caen and Terega.

Corinne is an actuarial sciences scholar and a model. She has even represented Cameroon in the Miss Africa Pageant. According to her LinkedIn profile, she is the founder and managing director of SACAY Apparel, a company that specializes in manufacturing textile products.

Yves Missi’s other sister, Amanda, graduated from the Faculty of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (FMSB) in Yaoundé in 2011. Her Facebook profile states that she works at Central Hospital of Yaoundé (August 2018- present).

Yves Missi’s Career Highlights And Stats

In 2023, Yves played at the Nike Hoop Summit season from Prolific Prep and won the Grind Session World Championship with his team. The 7-foot-tall Yves has a lifetime average of ten points, six rebounds, and two blocks in 19-minute games.

He played his freshman season at the Baylor University, where he played 34 games.

In conversation with Wacoan, Yves revealed his desire to play in the national championship. He said, “Obviously, a national championship is our big goal. That’s something we’ll always shoot for. And getting to the League [National Basketball Association] is one of my biggest dreams.”

Nevertheless, Yves Journey has inspired teenagers who wish to pursue a career in basketball or sports.
