Neemias Queta, ten, accompanied his older sister to her basketball trials in Barreiro, Portugal. The coach of the city’s professional basketball team, Barreirense Basket, noticed the oddly tall child lurking around the facility.
Like most of his peers, Queta, who was primarily interested in football growing up, was enlisted to participate in the professional team’s training when they were working out on the opposite side of the court.
After working hard at his craft and being hired by the professional team there, he aspires to be among the greatest.
He began playing basketball in 2009 for Barreirense before playing collegiately for the Utah State Aggies. Later, Queta played in four Portuguese Basketball League professional games for Benfica.
The Sacramento Kings selected Queta with the 39th pick in the second round of the 2021 NBA draft, making him the first player from Portugal to be drafted in the league. Queta inked a two-way contract with the Boston Celtics on September 19, 2023.
