Jacoby Jones Cause of Death Revealed: Survived by His Mother and Son

An NFL player-turned-coach, Jacoby Jones, died on July 14, 2024, three days after his 40th birthday. The cause of his death was deemed a natural death without any foul play; later, the medical reports stated that he passed away due to a heart disease caused by long-term high blood pressure.

An alum of Lane College, Jones was the 2007 NFL draft pick of the Houston Texans; they picked him in round three (73 overall pick).

Throughout his playing career, he spent nine seasons with the NFL teams Texans, Ravens, Chargers, and Steelers.

He was the Super Bowl XLVII champion, leading the Ravens to the title with a 108-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.

From his school days, along with football, he excelled in multiple other sports, including basketball and track. As a result, he earned a track scholarship from Southern Louisiana University but transferred to Lane College in 2003 to pursue collegiate football.

After retirement from football, Jacoby worked as a wide receivers coach at his alma mater, Lane College (2018-19), before joining Calvert Hall College (2020), Morgan State (2021), and Alabama State (2022-23).

He was supposed to start as the head coach and offensive coordinator for Beaumont Renegades in 2025.

Jacoby Jones Died of a Natural Cause While Asleep in His Home

The unfortunate news about Jacoby Jones comes just three days after his 40th birthday on July 14. The former wide receiver was celebrating his 40th birthday on July 11 with his family and friends, and he seemed happy and healthy.

The Super Bowl XLVII winner’s autopsy report revealed that his death was due to a natural cause. Additionally, his family released a statement confirming he passed away peacefully in his home to the NFLPA.

The Jones family said, “We want to express our gratitude for all the kind thoughts and support you have shown us during this challenging time. Your ongoing support and respecting our privacy means a lot to us.”

Despite the dreadful impact of his death on his family and friends, there was no confirmation about the cause of Jacoby’s death at the time of his death.

The cause of the death of Jacoby Jones was not sudden; instead, it was a long-term problem for him, which took a toll on his body. He was dealing with high blood pressure for a long time, which caused a Hypertensive cardiovascular disease, resulting in his sudden death.

Apart from his talent and fame, Jacoby was loved by his friends and family for his soft and loving demeanor.

Jacob Jones’ Legacy Is Survived By His Mother And Son

Jacob Jones was raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, by his parents. His mother, Emily London, was a parent and an influential figure behind his success who supported him in every phase of his life.

On the other hand, Jacob’s father’s identity remains a mystery. He has not appeared with the family, and while there is no concrete proof, it seems that Emily was a single parent who raised her son alone.

Besides, Emily is available on Instagram, where she shares and celebrates every achievement of her son. As evidenced by her posts on Instagram, she shares a special bond with her son.

Jones’ mom, Emily, participates in various social work and charity events. She is a member of PACE, an organization that provides educational and emotional support to first-time and second-time moms. She also participates in fund-raising programs to help and empower students.

After her son’s untimely demise, Emily is again responsible for raising her grandson, Jacoby Jr., also known as Little Jacoby, alone. Unfortunately, she is a single parent to her grandson. Little Jacoby is twelve years old, and limited information is available publicly due to his young age.

The whole football community has expressed sadness over the untimely death of legendary football player Jacob Jones. However, the fans hope his legacy will continue, with his son one day wearing his jersey on the field.
