Arthur Conti, the rising British actor, has garnered the love and attention of fans with his captivating performance in the 2024 film Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. He comes from a lineage of actors; almost every family member is in the entertainment industry.

His grandparents, Tommaso Antonio Conti and Kara Wilson, were acclaimed Scottish actors with numerous acting credits. His grandfather has received multiple awards, such as the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play and the Laurence Olivier Award for Actor of the Year in a New Play.

Arthur’s mother, Nina Conti, pursued her career in the entertainment industry and became an actress and comedian.

Following the family trend, he pursued an acting career after honing his acting skills at the National Youth Theatre. He gained insights into acting through stage productions and has appeared in major productions such as Machinal, Crazy for You, and Blithe Spirit.

How Did London-Born Actor Arthur Conti Got Into Acting?

The British actor was born in Camden, London, and grew up with a heavy influence of acting, as his family had acclaimed actors. This influence helped him shape his career in acting early on.

Despite coming from a lineage of actors, he debuted in 2022 with a small role in HBO’s highly anticipated series House of the Dragon. He saw an offer for the role of the Queen’s Page. 

The fantasy series featured actors like Matt Smith, Emma D’Arcy, Fabien Frankel, Olivia Cooke, Ewan Mitchell, and Alfie Todd.

Although Conti had a brief role in the series, it helped him showcase his acting range to a broader audience. Additionally, the success of the series House of the Dragon exposed him to Hollywood’s casting directors, opening new avenues for future projects.

Additionally, the talented actor signed with the longest-running talent agency, WME, in 2023, which will surely guide him in his career.

Conti’s Big Breakthrough With ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’

However, the 20-year-old British actor’s big breakthrough came in 2024 with the comedy horror Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the sequel to the 1988 film Beetlejuice.

He got the role of Jeremy in the much-awaited sequel of Beetlejuice and will play the love interest to Astrid, played by Jenna Ortega.

Despite massive competition for the role, Arthur managed to secure it after auditioning with the director, Tim Burton. He had to audition for the role through a Zoom call; however, he impressed everyone with his chemistry with Jenna Ortega.

The film stars Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, Justin Theroux, Catherine O’Hara, Willem Dafoe, Monica Bellucci, and Santiago Cabrera.

Arthur Thought He Was “Pranked” When He Got The Role

In a humorous turn of events, Arthur received the news about landing the role in the Beetlejuice sequel on April Fool’s Day, initially leading him to think it was a prank.

Talking to GQ about his movie, Arthur said,

“It feels like it’s a lot of pressure to do a sequel to something that’s iconic and beloved, and everyone’s seen it, everyone loves it. But I think we’ve done a very good job. I think people who love the first one will love this one. It’s stayed true to everything that made the original so fresh and exciting and weird.”

Besides, during his first big premiere, Arthur shared his concern about the dress code with a black tie and was relieved after other actors appeared without a tie.

He attended the red carpet with his castmates of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice: Jenna Ortega, Michael Keaton, Monica Belluci, Willem Dafoe, and Winona Ryder.

Arthur Conti Is The Son of the Famous Ventriloquist, Nina Conti

Arthur Conti was born to his parents, Nina Conti and Andrew Stanley, in 2004. He grew up alongside his brother, Drummond, in Camden, London.

His father is a comedian and is primarily known for movies such as Man Stroke Woman (2005), Peacock Season (2009), and Living with Monkey (2014).

Additionally, his mother is a successful actress, comedian, and ventriloquist. She started acting in 1996 and has appeared in several movies and TV shows.

She received joint “Best Performance” for her 2012 movie Her Master’s Voice in the Maverick Movie Awards. Additionally, her film was nominated for a BAFTA and won a Grierson Award.

Besides, she ventured into the directorial role for her movie Sunlight, which she completed in April 2023.

In addition, she has a successful stand-up career and won the BBC New Comedy Awards in 2022. Nina has a unique approach to her comedy and uses a face mask rather than an actual puppet with her live audience. She regularly uploads her live show highlights to her YouTube channel.
